How to respond to a "thank you"?
Normally I stick with the traditional "you're welcome," but sometimes I think that's taking too much credit and sounds a bit pretentious. Sometimes I go with the more casual "no problem," but sometimes I think that seems to make it seem that I didn't do anything worthy of thanks. This could make the thanker think they were silly for offer thanks for something so small. Of course, sometimes I just don't really say anything at all, which probably isn't the best thing to do.

If the situation warrents it, sometimes it works to say, "I'm glad you enjoyed it" or "I'm glad you liked it" or "I was happy to do that for you." Sometimes a smile made with direct eye contact is a good choice. Not responding at all probably isn't a good choice--it makes it seem like you're paralyzed :)
Thainamu, was the first post yours?
I've thought about saying something like that, but then I'd have to consider if the thanker actually enjoyed it, or was just trying to be polite. Or, if I was actually happy to do it (instead of being not quite up to happy on the emotional scale).
In the words of our first German exchange student daughter, "You think too much!"
(Yes, that first post was mine. It wouldn't let me edit, so I showed it!)
Me, think too much?!?!
Way to show blogger who's boss.
Oh wait, you are from Texas right! So a "thank you" with a Texas accent is a powerful thing. It deserves a response like...."Oh, you are so welcome, I am glad to be of help.
My dear ol' ma told me one time "it never hurts to say Thank You. If you can do it with a Texas accent, thats even better". And she was a native of Moose Jaw Saskatchewan and never said "you all" in her life! (said "eh" a lot though eh!)
Protocol...the lubrication that stops the sqeaking of two people rubbing together.
(Just blog surfing...glad to have met you....)
