It just doesn't make any sense to me. If MLB gets what they want (which may be impossible to enforce), they could very well lose a million fans.

As for football, I know there's people who only watch games, in which their favorite team isn't playing, if they either have money on the game or their fantasy game will be impacted by it. I'm not the only one who's watched Monday Night Football because I'm 6 points down in my fantasy game and I have a player in the game.

I think it's typical of the short-sited thinking of many companies. They're still trying to control their image and all their content by keeping it all in house. The problem is there's no way that will fly in today's increasingly open-source culture.
