Power Rankings

Instead of hitting you with unformatted numbers, I figured I'll just give you my top 10. This is how I would vote if I had a vote in some poll.

1. Ohio St. (8-0) - The only team to have played at an elite level in every game and they probably have the best win of the season, at Texas. The clear cut #1.

2. Michigan (8-0) - Have been solid (but not dominant) all season. Looks like they have an easy schedule until the Ohio St. showdown.

3. Florida (6-1) - Sorting out the SEC is tough, but Florida looks like the best team to me in that conference. A competitive loss at Auburn is understandable. Good wins at Tennessee and against LSU.

4. USC (6-0) - Had a great start to the season with wins at Arkansas and against Nebraska, but have struggled recently with 3 straight one touchdown margin wins against mid-level Pac 10 teams.

5. Auburn (7-1) - The lost at home to Arkansas is bad (since I still think Arkansas is overrated), and they don't play a tough true road game all season. wins against Florida and LSU are impressive though.

6. Texas (7-1) - They simply seem to be the most talented team left. Their loss was to the best team in the country, and their only other major struggle came at Nebraska in the snow flurries (a game they were really lucky to win).

7. West Virginia (7-0) - How good are they? Who knows? The best team they've played is Maryland.

8. Louisville (7-0) - Have struggled the last two weeks, and the win over Miami is looking less impressive every week.

9. LSU (6-2) - Have dominated all their games except their two losses at Auburn and at Florida. They have a brutal schedule, with road games left at Tennessee and Arkansas, with none of the SEC heavyweights coming to their place this season.

10. Clemson (7-1) - Only loss is at Boston College in overtime, and they've rolled up some huge victory margins.

Others considered: California, Tennessee, Wisconsin.

I think West Virginia is a top 3 team... they have a decent defense, but their offense is just too fast and quick. Too bad they don't play anyone. I watched the first half of that Maryland game, they utterly destroyed the Terps.

Maybe so, but I just can't rank them any higher at this point.
